Kavya Menon
Kavya Menon is a dancer, choreographer, dance scholar, and serves as Programs Manger for IMGE! She started dancing at the age of 4, training in Bharatanatyam, and began pursuing advanced training at the age of 10 at Kerala Kalamandalam based in India. While there, she developed an affinity towards Mohiniyattam— choosing to specialize in the style. Upon the completion of her arangaetram, Kavya started teaching primarily in Indian classical styles as well as Indian Folk and South Indian dance styles. Under her own artistic brand, Kavya has conceptualized, directed and performed in a number of stage productions, dance dramas, and digital productions showcasing dance and movement concepts. Her love for dance extends to research and she has completed a portfolio of work examining dance theory and practice in styles such as Kathakali, Bharatanatyam, Bollywood, and non-western dance forms. Kavya also has experience in Hip Hop, Jazz, contemporary & competitive ballroom journey.
She began further expanding her movement vocabulary by training under Ishita Mili and the IMGE methodology while continuing to develop her personal dance repertoire. She has been IMGE’s Programs Manager since 2024, assisting Creative Director Ishita Mili in the management of programs under the IMGE Methodology and Production portfolio. Kavya hopes to continue exploring new styles of movement, develop herself as an interdisciplinary artist, and continue to help further the IMGE Methodology and mission.
